Political Structures and forms of governance
  • Many of the major states became indivual city states and were taken over by Sumerian Kings.
  • City states dominated public life in Sumer. This way, there could be seperate kings to rule each city state creating less conflicts.
Empires
  • Mesopotamians began to build powerful regional empires around 2350 B.C.E. They emerged as Semitic peoples with new technology.
  • The creator of the Mesopotamia empire was Sargon and he led an army against the city states to better the community, causing more problems.
Nations and nationalism

Revolts and revolutions
  • Many of the city states kings fought against each other for power and expansion of land.
  • Additionally, empires fought city states to gain control of their people and resources
  • New inventions were sometimes considered revolutions. For example, the wheel, ship building, and bronze and iron metallurgy were considered new advacnces in technology.
Regional, transregional, and global structures and organizations
  • Different regions were organized in different ways. For instance, certain areas produced more crops then others. Also, most places had different languages which seperated the communities
  • Furthermore, military force is unique in different regions. Some forces are stronger then others
